Course Overview
Transitioning from academia to the real world can be both exciting and challenging. Beyond academic expertise, it’s crucial to develop diverse professional skills vital in the workplace, such as communication, relationship management, teamwork, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and business & corporate etiquette.
Understanding ownership and accountability becomes increasingly important as you transition to the real world, which presents real situations leading to real gains and real losses. The risks and costs of learning can be high, and setbacks may require significant time and effort to overcome. Therefore, it’s essential to quickly learn and master the new rules of this playing field.
The transition from the structured environment of academia to the dynamic and unpredictable real world can be complex and, if not well-managed, intimidating. This shift presents new opportunities and challenges, requiring students to adjust to the work culture, adapt to professional norms and expectations, and navigate workplace hierarchies, communication styles, and office politics.
Balancing work and personal life emerges as a new challenge, calling for effective management of work demands alongside personal responsibilities and interests. Achieving a healthy work-life balance requires skills in time management, delegation, escalation management, boundary setting, and prioritisation.
Rejection and failure are inevitable aspects of life. Learning to cope with setbacks, bounce back from failures, and persist in the face of adversity is essential for sustainable success.
Finding a supportive mentor in the first few years of this transition can be incredibly beneficial. A good mentor can significantly ease the journey by preparing students well in advance, reducing pain and agony, helping avoid failures, enhancing gains, and greatly accelerating progress. Overall, mentoring plays a crucial and supportive role in helping students successfully transition to the real world by providing guidance, advice, direction, practical tips, support, and resources, helping them thrive in their chosen career paths.

CURRICULUM
During this module we will handle the acclimatization part of the A2PL journey.
Learning, unlearning and re-learning has always been a very crucial and essential aspect of achieving success that sustains over a long time. The more the speed and quantum of change in the environment of relevance, that much more is the importance of this learning part.
In this module, we will identify the priority areas, tacts & techniques for this part of the A2PL journey.
Understanding what is the right mindset and the right attitude in which circumstances is the pre step of developing them.
In this module, we will discuss and help you acquire clarity in reaching such understanding and further proceed to create or re-construct the “right mindset” and “right attitude “
In this module, we will evaluate and pursue to get a sharp clarity on defining the pyramid of priorities.
Priorities will help in achieve intended progress and growth. It is also very critical to get one’s own definition of growth which would have different meanings in different form of consideration or environment or different individuals at different stages.
Communication is a simple yet complex art. Yes, in more paradigms it is an art, but also is a skill that can be practiced and enhanced.
In this module, we will get a btter, deeper and wider understanding on Communication‘.
Being able to walk through the maze created by these aspects with a higher level of efficiency and effectiveness is of very high importance. This becomes even more important as one stands growing vertically.
We will derive and achieve clarity, better preparedness to handle this and learn to find comfort in uncomfortable, unstable and unclean environment.
Therefore, understanding the reality, eliminating the subjectivities while assessing the reality is very crucial. The next important phase is to handle and deal with the realities, making things happen in and around those realities to achieve desired outcome.
This module is for more in depth and in detail discussion and becoming better equipped to move over effectively through and around such realities.
We will utilize this module for achieving required clarity and know how on “stake holder management“.
So building and maintaining the “right image“ and building a “right reputation“ is a very vital component of one’s success matrix.
During the discussion and interaction under this module, we will focus on the “image” and “reputation”.
Understanding the paradigms of such balancing and keeping that aspect in the bunch of important considerations is what we will aim to understand through this module.
